In the centre section of the window, the download queue itself is displayed.
Each line represents one file in the queue.
The first column lists the names of the file.
The second column is the status column. The following statuses exist:
-
Queued: the file is eligible for automatic download by the queue, if the
queue is active. The file's position in the queue is indicated in brackets.
In the above screenshot, the file "SonOfGrok.sit" is the next file that
will be downloaded.
-
Starting: the download is in the process of starting.
-
Active: the file is being downloaded. In this case, the status column shows
how many percent of the file have been downloaded.
-
Joining: the file has been downloaded, and the segments of the file are
being joined together. This can take some time for big files (approximately
the same time it would take to duplicate the completed file).
-
Cancelled: the file was downloading when the user stopped it by pressing
the "Stop" button in the queue window.
-
Error: the file could not be downloaded because an error occured.
-
On Hold: the file is in the queue but is not eligible for automatic download
by the queue
-
Finished: the file was successfuly downloaded.
The third column lists the size of the file, in Megabytes (Mb) or
kilobytes (kb) depending on the size of the file
The fourth column lists the speed of the download for active downloads.
This speed is in kilobytes per second and is the average speed over the
past ten seconds or so (not the overall average speed). It is not displayed
until around 10 seconds after the download starts
The last column gives an estimate of the time remaining. This estimate
is based on the overall speed of the download since it started. In the
case of resumed downloads, it is the average speed since the download was
resumed.
The status of the queue (active or stopped) is displayed at the bottom
left of the queue window. When the queue is active, Speed Download will
automatically start queued downloads. The number of maximum simultaneous
downloads is set in the Preferences
At the bottom of the window are 2 rows of buttons:
-
Stop Queue: Stops the queue
-
Start Queue: Start the queue
-
Edit
: opens up an edit window for a file if one was selected (disabled
if status is finished, active, starting, or joining )
-
Hold: puts the selected file on hold (disabled if status is finished, active,
starting, or joining )
-
Queue: puts the selected file at the end of the download queue (disabled
if status is finished, active, starting, or joining )
-
Stop: Stops the selected file (only available for active or starting downloads)
-
Get it: Starts downloading the selected file (disabled if status is finished,
active, starting, or joining )
-
Remove: Removes the selected file from the queue (disabled if status is
active, starting, or joining ) This does not delete the actual file (even
if the download is not finished), it only removes it from the queue. If
you remove a file by accident, you may put it back in the queue by doubleclicking
on the log file for the download. This file is in a folder with the same
name as the downloaded file (but starting with a "/"), which is in Speed
Download's download folder. The log file has the same name as the downloaded
file (but starting with a "/")
-
Add
: opens up an add download window (see section 6 for more details)
You can setup schedules for the queue, that is predefined dates
and times when the queue will be started. This could be used for example
to download files at night when there is less activity on the Internet
or when the computer is not being used.
To edit Queue schedules, select "Schedule" from the Queue menu. The
following window appears:
To add a scheduled event, select the event type (Start or Stop the queue)
by clicking on the radio buttons, choose the date and time of the event
and click add. To remove a scheduled event, select it and click remove.
Schedules are saved in the preferences folder. If a sheduled event is out
of date, ie. when Speed Download is launched the event's time is in the
pastn the event is removed from the list.
Unregistered users may only have one scheduled event at a time. Registered
users may have unlimited scheduled events
